Program Notes →

“A throwback to the golden age of Heifetz,” raves BBC Music Magazine of Baiba Skride, who performs Tchaikovsky’s passionate Violin Concerto. And guest conductor Juraj Valchua leads works of two other Russian masters: the delightful Valse de Concert of Glazunov, and Prokofiev’s Third Symphony, music drawn from his mesmerizing opera “The Flaming Angel.”

A pre-concert talk, beginning one hour prior to the performance in the auditorium, will be led by Resident Conductor Andrés Franco. This talk is open to all ticketholders.

Immediately following the concert, join us for an on-stage performance from Antonín Dvořák’s String Quintet No. 3 in E-flat major featuring Jeremías Sergiani-Velázquez and Marta Krechkovsky, violin, Rimbo Wong and Andrew Wickesberg, viola, and Will Chow, cello.

Run Time: This performance will last approximately1 hour and 55 minutes, including intermission.
